all of this. :) He’s my favorite
I am going to try not to be political too much in this tumblr, even if my life is all about politics, but I needed to say something.
How in the world are we supposed to expect instant change in a year when it took almost thirty years to screw us up to where we are now? What I find so unfair is that this guy and all of the Democrats are being blamed for a problem they didn’t create. They just said, “hey, we have some ideas, give us a chance” and people said, “okay, help.” And I’m not going to stand on my pedestal and say the Democrats are getting it right. But I think they deserve a little more time to try. Banking regulations were lifted because the idea was, the market will correct itself if anything goes wrong, but if the New Deal era taught us anything (and pre-New Deal too), then we know that’s not true. Sometimes the market can’t correct itself. This is why other countries, whose currency value is not dropping have such a tight hold on their banks because they learned the first time. America is still stumbling.
I’m not an American but I have a green card. I pay my taxes and volunteer for political people (they can’t pay me so it’s all volunteering). I study the system and probably know it better than most Americans (thank you American colleges). But I make one request to any person who follows me - vote.
I’m not saying, “VOTE DEMOCRAT” but I am saying, go and vote in the midterm elections. They’re this year. Look up who is running in your area. votesmart.org is a good place to start. It is completely unbiased. It will give you the information you need to make an informed decision. Do you want to give the Democrats some more time or do you want to say the hell with them and give the Republicans a go?
I don’t dislike Republicans but I just think the Dems could use a little more time to try a few more tricks up their sleeve. Also, we won’t feel the effects of their decisions now for another couple months or even years. It does take time for a market to reverse itself, even with help.
And for the record, while I do like President Obama very very much, I supported Hilary first. If only because I wanted to see more of Amy Poehler on SNL.
